The following excerpts were taken from the solo performance, "A Mother Prepares...(a mother?), performed in Berlin, Germany May 23rd and 24th, 2009. Both recordings come from the May 24th performance at the Popelbühne, located in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood.
This first excerpt includes one of the piece's three poems and a dance sequence
Poem II
No more secrets/ I carry my story in front of me/ Round like a globe/ A bird dancing with her eggThe world has become Woman/ A garden in full bloom/ A round gorging fruit/ The men have succeeded/ But it is the women who/ Come to sit with me in the garden/ Their words holding me sweetly
I glide like a vessel now/ My own and not my own/ Leading and being lead/ The past is gone with winter/ The future as unimaginable as/ The new face and life to come/ I confide now in him, her, it/ To carry me forward/ Though it is my legs that walk
Let go now…/ New life steals understanding/ Bursting through the seams of reality with a scream/ The smell of terror, blood and love/ Lingering for a drink/ And many drinks to come
First dance sequence, performed to Metamorphosis II by Philip Glass.
Thank you to all who made the performance possible: Elena Melnishca, Marco Kurek (tech, general support, and he is the father!), Eloise de Hauteclocque (tech, photography), Peter Wedel (video assistance), Beata Kana (friend and dance partner) and the other performers who shared the evening with me: Valentina Bordenave, Fabiana Capriotti, Bettina Neuhaus.

The Quartet: Baby Pupi & Liz + Sloneczko & Beata, Take to the Stage for Some Stunning Dance Moves
Liz and Beata take Baby Pupi (8 months old since conception) and Sloneczko
(6 months old since conception) to Mauer Park on a Sunday afternoon in earlyMay, for some lively dancingat this popular Berlin local.
The park is located in the up-beat, off-beat neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg,
formerly part of East Berlin. The Sunday flea market, or Flohmarkt, at Mauer
Park attracts a diverse group of people. You will find all ages, types, ethnicities
and nationalities here. People come with their children, their dogs, their friends,
their instruments, their juggling balls or other circus paraphe-nalia, their acts
and hats for cash for their acts, their picnic baskets, their singing voices for the
karoke stage, etc. Mauer Park on a Sunday is a relaxed, open Berlin. People are
not afraid to make eye contact or to approach one another; they are ready to
engage and be engaged. The quartet: Baby Pupi, Liz, Sloneczko and Beata have
felt themselves very well received in this environment.
Onlookers smile, approach them, ask to take photos and offer them wine when
they dance (at least, that has been the case so far. Note: they appreciate the
offer of wine but are not partak-ing in alcohol at the moment.)
The diversity of the park with its musicians and music-lovers, circus practitioners and performers, has provided yet-to-be-born Baby Pupi and Sloneczko with a wonderful playground. Althoughwecannot yet look these little ones in the eye, we feel in our bellies their appreciation for this fun, relaxed, life-loving environment. Thank you to all of the park-goers who have enriched our lives.
